A carrion crawler is a burrowing aberration that scavenges the dead and occasionally preying on the living when food sources are scarce.  It is similar to the giant tooth centipede found in the parched deserts of Til Vilon.
 
Carrion crawlers are often accompanied by a strong foul odor of death, which tends to warn others of its approach. These creatures are pale yellow, with eight long tentacles surrounding their mouth, and two large eyestalks. They are usually found in dark dungeons or ancient ruins. Their numbers are large, when food grows scarce they begin to migrate to more populated areas. Thus adventurers must be brought in to thin their numbers.
 
It is during this time that my apprentices harvest the brain fluids of these creatures with the greatest of care. We then begin the process of extracting the toxins and purifying them. Corked and sealed in a vial, to preserve its potency. Sufficient for all magical potions, magical studies, and spell components.
