A cockatrice is about the size of a large turkey or goose and weighs in at twenty-five pounds. A cockatrice more closely resembles a chicken, but it is a hybrid with the wings of the bat and a lizard-like tail. The tail typically has yellow-green scales, and its wings were that of a shade of grey. Its feet and beak were typically yellow, the feathers are of a golden-brown hue.
 
They are found in the southern regions of the realm, above ground and below. Though unappealing in nature, their bite is what gives everyone pause. Because any creature that a cockatrice bit could be permanently turned into stone. Cockatrices ferociously attack any creature that appears to threaten them or their lairs. Typically, flocks of them would attempt to overwhelm or confuse their opponents.  
 
Due to the cockatrice’s aggressive nature, we use hide-covered cauldrons and place them in areas that they will want to defend. As they attack the cauldron, it fills with their venom it then alerts us with a simple cantrip. Thus, providing ample opportunity for my apprentices to collect the cauldrons and bring them to you. Corked and sealed in a vial, to preserve its potency. Sufficient for all magical potions, magical studies, and spell components.
