Phoenixes are seen as champions of good in the realms, they are long-lived, ranging from one thousand to twelve thousand years. Phoenixes as of this time are to be known as only males, and most agree that they are reclusive and do not seek out contact with others, and if provoked will show relentless fury and destructive power.  Their bodies can withstand incredible heat or cold and possess a wide array of magical abilities. 
 
Most of the abilities are magical in nature, but they also can cast spells as naturally as any well-taught caster of the arts.  They are connected to the elemental realm of fire and seek environments of intense heat while on the prime material plane. Thus, in our realm, I have found them in the cluster of mountains known as the Calmut Volcanos, in the southern lands of the realm. 
 
The lava fields and molten cores of the volcanoes are a perfect place for them. Virtually all parts of the body could be used for potions, spell components, or magical research, especially in the areas of fire magic, in both offensive and defensive magics. 
 
It is on the cliffs of these volcanoes that have been able to locate their nests, thus when the nest is empty, I have been able to secure loose feathers without disturbing these magnificent creatures. Thus, providing ample opportunity with little interference to them, to collect and bring them to you. Corked and sealed in a vial, to preserve its potency. Sufficient for all magical potions, magical studies, and spell components.
